The border state of Arunachal Pradesh is in one corner of the country. How can we support the education of poor children there and show rest of India cares.

With this intent I decided to sponsor the education of a child at a school run by Vivekananda Kendra in Basar, District Siam. Her name is Gonam Basar, she is 7 years old. I hope to sponsor her education till the 10th standard.

Vivekananda Kendra run over 36 schools in Arunachal Pradesh. Total number of students studying in the schools is 12,171 in academic session 2013-14. Among them 6,487 are boys and 5,684 (47%) are girls. Links tell you more about their activities.

In 2013 visited their schools in Arunachal. I was very impressed with the quality of education imparted. The sort of questions asked to me during Q&A sessions in school indicated the high degree of awareness and their confidence levels.
