Kalmegh is called in Kirayat in Hindi and Nilavembu in Tamil. Nilavembu drink is famous in Tamil Nadu to treat all kinds of fevers, diabetes etc. The herb prevents formation of cancer cells.

A combination of Kalmegh and papaya is used to treat dengue fever.
