Women Empowerment Centre Leh is about 10 minutes drive from the main market. Women use a simple process to make Sanitary Napkins at about 25 to 30 per day. These are sold at nominal prices to local women. A team of 3 ladies is required. Recently started section. Was told plans are afoot to extend this to other WEC.

Knitting section where local ladies are provided with machine and place to work. Products are sold at Hall of Fame in Leh. Visited end July 2016.

Computer Teaching section. Students are taught word, excel and power point. Impressive facility. Time I visited no classes were on.

In the same place women are provided with sewing machines. Women were busy with harvesting so fewer women present when I visited.

Products made at WEC on display. There are powerlooms too for local women to use. To see pics of CHIRAG ngo in Kumaon who do similar work Click here

This is Army Goodwill School at Partapur in Nubra Valley set up in 1998. It had just rained hence water. We visited on Sunday afternoon so could not see school from inside. To see pics of UMANG, a very women cooperative near Raniket Click here
