Jagdish Mandir is minutes away from the City Palace entrance and part of the old city. During my November 2017 visit saw local devotees visit the temple from as early as 5 am. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. At entrance see two elephants with a brass emblem of the Sun God in centre panel.

Side view. The temple was built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur from 1628 to 1653. The first and second storey of temple have 50 pillars each.

At entrance and facing Lord Vishnu is a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle.

Side view of panel. This 3 storied structure has beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls. It cost Rs 15 lakhs to build.

Lowest level is Kirti Mukh to ward away evil. Next elephants followed by horses. Not clear on the topmost level. Has men and women both.

Sculptures on side panel. Women with musical instruments and dancing pose. Loved the temple. It is a must visit.

Side panel. Images of Vishnu. The sanctum has a four-armed moorthi of Lord Vishnu i.e. carved out of a single piece of black stone. Here Vishnu is Jagannath, Lord of the Universe.

View of Shikhar (spire) is 79 feet tall. The temple has a mandap (prayer hall) and a porch.

Side view of panel rear side of temple. Temple has sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians.

Lady holds a heavy anklet in her hand. Temple has smaller shrines dedicated to Surya, Durga, Ganesh and Shiva.

Lowest level horse. Top panel has women in dancing posture. Some caption info taken from www.udaipur.org.uk
