Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya in Agartala, Tripura. Main school building with image of Pujya Swami Vivekananda on the right. It is a beautifully laid out and well maintained campus. School is from class 3 to 12, only boys has app 815 students. I reached Agartala from Unakoti, it is a six hour bus drive. From bus stand to school was app 30 minutes by auto. Was very cold in
mid December 2014.
Have you seen a school that has Tea Gardens. U see them as you enter the campus, road on right. School was founded in 1990.
Knowledge is never lost profound words. Subsequent to an agreement between the Central/State Govts with Tripura National Volunteers the govt invited Ramakrishna Mission to set up a school in Agartala as one of the demands of the TNV was a CBSE school for tribals.
Children are brought to school in school buses. Campus has very good internal roads and is spotlessly clean.
Entrance to main building of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Viveknagar, Tripura.
A bust of Swamiji greets you on entering the main school building.
Assembly Hall. As is the case in all schools lots of noise before assembly begins, my school was similar.
Students sing a small prayer before the national anthem.
Children singing the national anthem. Students who stand on stage have to remove their shoes.
Close up of children who sang the national anthem that morning. Some very cute.
Boys playing in garden before start of assembly. They were excited to see me click pictures and wanted to know which city I was from.
Football ground, early morning pic. Guest house where I stayed and dining hall are both five minute walk from here. Breakfast at 6.30 am and dinner at 8.30 pm meant a 10 minute walk in cold weather, enjoyable but did catch a cold.
Before assembly boys play like football with a green colored sprite plastic bottle as u see in left of pic. There was more excitement on the ground in this game as compared to football matches that we played in school.
Post assembly it is study time.
Students busy studying.

Evening class in session. It was very cold so u see children with warm clothes. Agartala is a lovely town, clean and well laid out. Girls and women feel very safe in the town is what I noted during my 4 day stay. Very good roads within Agartala and parts of the State that I visited. Very green as well.
Another evening class in session. Found the few teachers that I spoke to be a very dedicated lot. I found people of Tripura to be very friendly and helpful - importantly the tribal and non-tribal population have mingled well, both have adopted each others customs.
The younger boys just loved my presence . To see pics of Tribal Musuem Agartala Click here
Amongst the most important team on campus - they run the school kitchen. Besides monks there are app 175 students in hostel.
Campus has lovely flowers as you see. Just loved the campus, envy the students. Wish my school was like this! This is the number one school in Tripura. Wish RKM opens a similarschool in Manipur where there is pent up demand.
Temple is at one end of the campus actually next to the monk''s quarters.
School is self-sufficient in many ways, grows fruits and vegetables as you can see.
Fish farm. When the school was set up around 1990 a lot of the original landscape was kept as is. This seems to be part of it. Campus has dense forests, rubber trees etc.
There is a separate room where Paintings by children are displayed. U see arts teacher with students.
Paintings by children.
This painting show Gautama Buddha in chariot seeing poor man.
More paintings. I was so impressed that suggested to school that they should have an annual public exhibition where the best three paintings are chosen by a distinguished panel of judges. This would motivate children, who knows discover unknown talent.
More paintings. With increasing cost and falling support from State Govt, RKM school is always in need of funds. If you wish to contribute please mail Secretary Maharaj at Click here or click on this link for contacts Click here
More paintings. If you like to donate to school and are unable to get through please mail me at Click here
