It is said that we can visit the Holy places only when ‘Bulava aata hai’, there is call from Ishwar (God). For years I was hoping to do the Char Dham Yatra. Every time I went to my father in law’s place at Mussorie I looked at the Char Dhams and wondered!

You see the first sight of Yamunotri, ie from about 2 kms away.

An overview of the shrine with the hill behind. Close to the Yamunotri is a stream that comes in the center of the mountain in this picture. It comes from the top of the mountain & is one of the sources of the Yamuna river. The source of the river is Band

A closer view of mountain from where the stream comes down.

A closer view of the Yamunotri Mandir complex.

Mountain view from Yamunotri. We had clouds for company here.

The vatavaran (atmosphere) at Yamunotri is like a Punjabi wedding, dance & fun or like a Mata ka festival. As you can see there is a festive atmosphere all around. Here you see a vivaha (wedding) going on. A number of people trek up all the way there

Yamuna Ma, ie inside the Yamunotri ka mandir – shrine.

What you see in front is the entrance to the KUND (hot water springs). Above is the temple.

A group picture with the Mandir in the background.

We mostly found people enroute to be in high spirits. What you see are two smiling Garwhali girls Krishna & Sita.

After we clicked Krishna and Sita their friends asked us ‘hamara bhi picture lo’ – take our photo also. So here are the original two with their friends. (blur lady in specs.)
