Film Indian Deities worshipped in Japan

It comes as a surprise to most that Hindu deities which have been forgotten in India today, are still worshipped in Japan. People are also surprised to know that the Indian Sanskrit language (and its 5th century script, forgotten in India) are still used in Japan. In fact, in 1,200 temples of Japan, mantras in Sanskrit are still chanted every day, along with the performance of homa (`goma`). This film has been made for Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India by the distinguished culture historian and Buddhism expert Benoy K Behl. This is a unique film, as it has been shot with the unprecedented cooperation of 50 of the most important temples of Japan. It has interviews with the Chief Priests of these major temples, which they normally never give to a film maker. benoy.behl@gmail.com
