Stok Kangri Trek

You see view from Leh. Left to right last snow peak is Stok Kangri. The base camp is two hours drive from Leh. Height is 6,120 metres. It takes six days Leh To Leh. App cost Leh to Leh is app Rs 40,000/. Some people do the trek in 2 days but for others it takes time to acclamitize. Trek is 26 kms but because of steep increase in altitude one needs to go slowly.

You see group in hotel being briefed by the local guide and tour leader from countryside. Trek starts at 6am. Can do trek from July to mid September.

You see view from hotel, flowers with Stok Kangri peak in the background. Usual temperature during trek is from 6 degrees to Zero degrees. Drink atleast 4-5 litres of water per day to avoid dehydration.

You see flower by the name ''Delia''. 6 day program is as follows. Day 1 arrive in Leh rest. Day 2 local sightseeing. Day 3 leave for starting point, trek to camp, start at 8am and end about 3pm. Day 4 trek to base camp, about 4 hours, relax. Day 5 trek to summit and then down to camp one. Day 6 leave for Leh n depart for Delhi.

You see our group at Stok Village. From here we start trek to camp called Mankarmo. U get a great view of the Zanskar and Karakoram ranges.

Tents on camp. Next day morning we start trek to base camp.

U see our us walking to base camp. Mountains are barren called Himalayan Desert.

U see us trekking. We used ponies to carry all the camping equipment / food. They serve Indian and Continental food. There was a kitchen staff of 2 for our group of 6 and a camping staff of 2.

We started trek from base camp to summit. Half way thru we clicked picture of sun rise.

As we approached the summit it became very cloudy the right word is ''whiteout''.

View of the colorful mountains from summit. U see Zanskar range. The view made the worth truly worth it - awesome.

On the way down on day five itself. Walking down is more difficult than climbing up. Day five is the toughest day, trek of almost 10-12 hours.

U see ''blue sheep'' ka flock while returning back to Leh on day six. From here u can either fly back to Delhi or explore the beauty of Ladakh.
