Top of Khardungla Pass. It is also known as the ''Pass of Lower Castle." At 18380 feet it is the highest motorable road in the world. Leh is 12k feet, so we ascened 6380 feet in less than 2 hours. Drive not so tough as had thought.

As we left Leh gained height. This is overview of Leh town. Extreme right of pic white structure is Shanti Stupa. On left small white structure on hill is Leh Palace. Right in front is a under
construction amphitheatre.
This is Ganglesh village about 30 minutes drive from Leh. Again happy to see so much greenery. At South Pullu is a police check post where your driver will enter details with the police. Just
a formality. Indians must carry identity proof. It is at a height of 15,300 feet.
Enroute - roads give you a sense of how we drove up. Roads are ok and improving by the day. Leave by say 6.30 am so you can enjoy Khardungla. Post 9.30 it gets very crowded. Best time
to visit is between May and October. Love to go when there is snow.
At Khardungla met this biker, from Bangalore originally from Kolkata. Ladakh is full of bikers. It is a great site to see say 12 bikers driving in a group. Khardungla is the doorway to Shyok and Nubra valleys.
