An Indian girl in the Great Indian Desert. The Great Indian Desert lies mostly in the Indian state of Rajasthan, and extends into the northern part of Haryana and Punjab states and into southern Gujarat state. In Pakistan, the desert covers eastern Sindh province and the southeastern portion of Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Jodhpur seen from the Mehrangarh Fort. The city is known as the "Sun City" for the bright, sunny weather it enjoys all year. It is also referred to as the "Blue City" due to the vivid blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. The old city circles the fort and is bounded by a wall with several gates.
