Located on Shetrunjaya hill are 863 temples built over a span of 900 years. The temples are exquisitely carved in marble, veritable prayers in stone. The earliest temple was probably built by Kumarpal Solanki, a great Jain patron. You need to climb 3,750

The temple complex is divided into 2 parts. One is the Adhinath temple complex as I call it whose entrance is on the extreme left of the picture. From there on there are a series of temples ending with Adhinath s temple at the end of the hill ie series of

This is a view of the Nautuk temples from the entrance to Adhinath temple complex. Due to fog had to wait for over three hours i.e. from 6.45 to 10 a.m. so the pictures have not come as well as I liked to.

Entrance to the Adhinath temple complex.

As you enter the temple complex the first temple on your left is that of the 5th Tirththankara Shantinathji. After this you have a series of temples on either side. Did not click them since there was none to tell you whom they represented.

The path inside the complex is very clean and well laid out. Here you see men carrying an old person.

This is Elephant Gate the entrance to the Adhinath (the first Tirthankara) temple. It has elephants on either side of the gate although what you see is only elephant.

A closer view of the Elephant Gate entrance that leads all the way to Adhinathji s temple.

A view of the Adhinathji Temple, clicked when it was foggy. The main temple is at the end the smaller ones being part of the complex.

At the far end of the picture is the Adhinathji Temple; in front you have other temples that form part of the complex.

Adhinath'ji Temple view clicked from the ground. The top portion that seems hazy had clouds all around it.

Holy Rayan tree where Adhinath'ji attained salvation.

A view of the lower portion of the temple, note the carvings. Extensive maintenance work was going on there.

Another temple in the Nautuk complex. The smaller temples represent each of the 24 Jain tirthankaras.

Another temple in the Nautuk complex. In the background are temples of the Adhinath temple complex. Lots of fog and wind when I clicked this one.

An overview of the Motinath Seth Tuk that forms part of the Nautuk complex. In the background amongst clouds is the Adhinath temple complex.
