Why BJP needed to win Haryana

  • Six reasons why BJP needed to win Haryana from a strategic and apolitical perspective. This BJP government can make Haryana a role model for agri-reforms that can be studied and emulated by ALL to make Haryana the land of the Bhagavad Gita.

The BJP’s victory in Haryana 2024 assembly elections took all by surprise. Actually, it was important to retain Haryana for different reasons.

1. The Bhakra Nangal Dam, situated in Himachal and Punjab, plays a very important role in North India. It is managed by the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) which has an installed capacity of 2918.73 MW.

BBMB regulates the supply of power and water to four states of North India and national capital of Delhi with Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan being the biggest beneficiaries. Its water irrigates lakhs of acres in Punjab and Haryana. It is also responsible for flood control in the region and a key supplier of electricity to the Northern Grid.

Punjab and Himachal are non BJP ruled. If Haryana too became a non BJP ruled state, any party wishing to create anarchy or settle scores could raise emotions with slogans like why water from Punjab should flow to Rajasthan or even Delhi when in reality water flows from Himachal. Note that in 1988 Major General B.N. Kumar, the then head of the Bhakra Beas Management Board, was killed for allegedly causing floods in Punjab.

Most do not know that the Bhakra project was a joint venture between Punjab (undivided) and Rajasthan. Cost was shared proportionately based on benefits expected. This made the desert state a stakeholder in the Bhakra project from day one.

2Access of Punjab Farmers to Delhi is via Haryana

Farmers were campaigning at Shambhu and Khanauri on the Punjab-Haryana border in response to the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march that began on February 13. They had blocked the national highway for days. Farmers were demanding opening of the Shambhu barrier on the Punjab Haryana border. Source

A BJP government in Haryana shall take all necessary steps to prevent farmers from reaching Delhi and cause inconvenience to its residents. A non-BJP government might play politics and tacitly support protestors.

Haryana is the Centre’s first line of defence against protesting Punjab farmers, who can turn violent.

To see road map of drive of Delhi to Chandigarh . Currently, one has to drive through Punjab for a few kms to reach Chandigarh (gateway to the hills).

3. A Congress victory would have ensured consolidation of Jat farmers across Punjab and Haryana. That might not happen now.

Unlike Jats of Haryana, Jaats of Punjab can get very violent as seen during the Khalistani Movement.

Further, this result will weaken the farmer’s agitation in North India and cement the government’s decision to have a local body, instead of the SGPC, manage gurudwaras in Haryana.

This BJP government can make Haryana a role model for agri-reforms that can be studied and emulated by Punjab.

4. Response to government Agniveer scheme

A lot of noise was made about the Agniveer scheme in 2024. Governments, both state and Centre took various steps to alleviate the concerns including providing reservations for those who fail to find permanent employment in the Armed Forces.

It appears the government moves are appreciated.

5. Demographic changes start during BJP rule in states like Haryana and Himachal. They accelerate when Congress wins like we are seeing in Himachal. People think it is an election for development and then cry later about demographics. Congress is a party for peacefuls, perhaps always was.

The people of Haryana have understood that. Has the BJP? It should take take steps to reduce the number of Bangladeshis in Gurgaon.

The government's policy on infiltation from Bangladeshi should be seen, not through a foreign policy prism or countering Pakistan but through the need to preserve the Bharatiya Civilzation.

6. Five Muslims won in Haryana namely Akram Khan from Jagadhri, Aftab Ahmed from Nuh, Manman Khan from Ferozepur Jinka, M Ilyas from Punana, M Israil from Hathin. Source

Of these Nuh, Ferozepur Jinka and Punana are Muslim dominated As per this Express report the last two constituencies have more than 80% Muslim voters. These two constituencies ‘are in the Muslim-dominated Nuh district in southern Haryana’s Mewat region. In Nuh 70% of the voters are Muslim.’

So Congress Muslim candidates got Muslim votes as seen in Kashmir Valley polls. Secularism ki jai hoo.

Hathin has the highest Muslim population in Palwal district. I could not reliably ascertain % of Muslim population here. Another seat won is Jagadhri near Yamunanagar. It is close to Saharanpur in Western Uttar Pradesh so Muslim influence exists.

Hindus of Bharatpur, Deeg and Alwar districts of Rajasthan that adjoin Muslim majority Nuh district need to observe attempts to change the demographics. So also, as spoken  elsewhere, an attempt may be made to change demographics in seats which the BJP has won.

Simultaneously, the Home Ministry at the Centre and Haryana must track foreign remittances carefully to check if used for construction of mosques or disturb social fabric.

Sadly, the Congress is perceived to be a Muslim party today.

BJP and Hindus must realize that Sub-continent Muslims hate losing and will never forgive the BJP for the Ayodhya verdict and building the Ram Mandir.
