- Ulhas Utsav 2026 had 1008 dancers performing
Nritya Seva in the presence of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The performance celebrated multiple forms of Indian classical dance. A truly memorable
event.
Introduction
Ulhas Utsav, presented by the World Forum for
Art & Culture at the Ulhas Utsav Grounds, was held on 20 January 2026 and
showcased one of the most magnificent cultural dance congregations in the
region. The highlight of the event was the Nritya Sewa (dance offering)
presented by 1008 trained classical dancers in the divine presence of Shri Sri
Ravi Shankar Ji, adding a powerful spiritual dimension to the evening.
Dr. Sunil Sunkara WFAC, Head of dance, took a
Sankalp of gathering 1008 dancers to offer Nritya Seva in presence of Guruji in
Ulhasnagar. SSN senior teacher Meghna Sunil and Gayatri Bhat helped to
collectively complete the seva.
The primary purpose of Ulhas Utsav was to:
1. Celebrate Indian classical dance as a form
of devotion and artistic excellence.
2. Bring together trained dancers from diverse
traditions to collectively offer Nritya Sewa.
3. Inspire cultural preservation and inner
peace through spiritual art and community collaboration.
Divine Harmony through Dance and Unity -
reflecting how art connects individual expression with collective spirit.
1. 1008 dancers performed a grand Nritya Sewa,
representing multiple classical dance forms and extensive training (minimum 3
years of experience).
2. The choreography was designed to create a
synchronized visual and emotional experience, showcasing the depth of Indian
classical movement and discipline.
3. Preparations included rigorous rehearsals
and coordination to align such a large group for a seamless performance.
We from Ved Institute, are proud to share that
our team, guided by Guru Aditi Yadav ji, dedicated weeks of intense practice to
perfecting Anand Tandava, a dance
form that resonates with the cosmic rhythm of the universe. The dedication and
perseverance of these young dancers, who practiced tirelessly despite their
busy schedules, was truly inspiring. Their Guru, Aditi Yadav ji, spared no
effort in honing their skills, instilling in them the values of discipline and
devotion.
This collective effort culminated in a mesmerizing
performance that left the audience spellbound. Following their rigorous
practice, our team had the divine experience of visiting the 1000-year-old Shiv
Mandir in Ambernath, a spiritual journey that left an indelible mark on our
hearts.

Our participants, who travelled esp. those
from South Mumbai, felt a deep sense of connection with the place. The journey
to Ambernath felt like a picnic for the mothers who accompanied their kids,
creating memories to cherish forever.
Quotes:
“When so many hearts and feet move with one purpose, art becomes a prayer — and dance becomes a bridge between the visible and the invisible.” Shri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji
Presence & Insights:
The event took on deeper meaning with the

Conclusion
Ulhas Utsav was a celebration of culture,
unity, devotion, and artistic brilliance. The collective performance of 1008
classical dancers symbolized discipline, harmony, and spiritual offering, while
the presence of Shri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji added depth and guidance to the
festivities. The event not only enriched the cultural panorama of Ulhasnagar
but also inspired many young artists to see their art as an expression of love,
service, and spiritual experience.
I must mention the beautiful choreographies by
Dr. Lata Surendraji (Bharatnatyam), Dr. Manjiri Deoji (Kathak), Dr.
Shubhada Varadkarji (Odissi). They set simple and aesthetic steps that
could be easily adapted by every dancer upwards of age 10. The
youngest participant was 9 years and the eldest 80.
