• Discover this Mini Switzerland of India – how to reach & what to see. There is more to India than Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Kashmir for e.g. Hampi, Binsar, Khajjiar, Tawang and Big Temple Thanjavur. 

In 2001, Jayantbhai and I did a memorable trip across Jammu region, Himachal and Garwhal. From Jammu we took a train to Chakkibank (time app two hours) from where we hired a private taxi to Dalhousie (time app 1 hour).

The next day we hired a taxi, started with Chamba Valley and then visited Khajjiar, touted as mini-Switzerland in India. Sharing pictures first –

What to see

How to reach Khajjiar

1. Pathankot to Dalhousie is 82 kms and Khajjiar is 98 kms.

2. Fly to Jammu – train to Chakkibank from there taxi. If drive from Jammu, Dalhousie is 192 kms and could take between 3-4 hours. 

Stay

There is a Himachal Tourism hotel. You can stay at Chamba too. We stayed at Dalhousie and did a day trip.
