• Here is a list of travel guide contacts by destination. Based on your experience add to the list so together we can co-create an all India list. 

A friend suggested I compile a list of travel guides, based on my travels. Actually, guides are a must when one is visiting heritage monuments like temples and forts. For wildlife trips a guide helps.

This list includes Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Sikkim etc.

Wish the government of India starts a www.travelguidesbharat.com portal where guide data is available destination.

It is hoped that readers will share contacts of quality travel guides they met during travels so together we can build an all India list.

You can email guide contact details to esamskriti108@gmail or add in comments. Please give location-guide name and number. Data is presented State and destination wise. 

In many cases you might not need a guide. If you visit state tourism sites or browse through esamskriti albums you might get list of places to see.

Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar and around – did not need a guide. Ditto for Jammu and around.

Ladakh 

Do not need a guide. If you are visiting villages then a local person is required. For a travel agent I used Leh based Jimmy 91 95968 18107 and 94698 15656.
