Amritsar
is known for the Golden Temple and good food amongst others. When I visited in
2012 went to the well known Kedar Da Dhabha for lunch and Kanaiya
ki Puri on Lawrence road for chole bathure / lassi for breakfast. Awesome.
Many
friends ask for a list of good places to eat in Amritsar so decided to share a
comprehensive note. A long time resident of Amritsar and dear friend shared the
following details.
In
Amritsar Dhabha Culture is very much famous.
For
Breakfast special Puri Chhole Lassi at Kanhaiya,
Munim, Sanjha Chulha and many more on Lawrence Road, Amritsar.
In the
city try -
1. Bharawan Da Dhabha and Brothers Dhabha near Golden Temple.
2. Kesar Da Dhabha very old and famous in
the interior city.
3. Kundan Dhabha just opposite Railway
Station which was rated as Punjab's No. 1 by Dainik Jagran News paper.
Makhan Fish is famous for fish and makhan (butter)
at Majitha Road. Many Indian and international brands exists in food courts of Mall of Amritsar at Grand Trunk road.
Chawla Chicken famous for cream chicken and
cream paneer on Lawrence Road and Ranjit Avenue.
For
Chinese and South Indian there is Sagar
Ratna and Crystal
Restaurant at Queen's Road.
A new restaurant
HAVELI recently opened at Jandiala ie10
km away from Amritsar entry gate. This is the branch of Main Haveli on
Jalandhar Ludhiana Highway. It is also very good.
Next there
are international food chains like Moti Mahal, Cafe Oz etc on B Block Ranjit
Avenue, Amritsar for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. KFC and Mcdonalds are
there on Mall Road.
For
Juttis and ladies suits Katra Jaimal
Singh and Jutti Bazar near Golden
Temple are the best. I bought Juttis or Mojris from Jannat
9815144765, 9781541616. Lasted me four years.
