Himalayas! The mention of this place is enough to inspire spiritual seekers across the globe. For centuries the Himalayan range of mountains have been an inner calling for all. Yet not many understand how vast it is…

The usual places that pilgrims visit are Chardham (Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath), Haridwar and Rishikesh and also other places like Gomukh and Valley of flowers. Even Mount Kailash and Lake Manasorovar are the highest part of Himalayas.

Yet, there are many not so well known yet deep places in the Himalayas which regular tourist/devotees are not aware of.

One such place is Dunagiri in the Almora District of the state of Uttarakhand. Almora is traditionally known as the resting place of Swami Vivekananda. With his world tours and health issues, Swami Vivekananda went to Almora to refresh himself. Ramakrishna mission has a beautiful ashram there. Now, first time I went to Dunagiri, I was not aware of the place or its importance. Though a regular Himalayan traveler, I had not planned the trip. I was asked by the Beyond Blue group of Pune to conduct a Chanakya leadership training program there. As I travelled from Delhi airport, I realised that it is very far and deep in the Himalayas. It almost takes you to a place bordering China. I realised it was God’s calling for me.

On the way, I stopped at Kanchi Dham, where we have the famous ashram of Neem Karoli Baba, who had inspired many American business leaders and celebrities, e.g. Steve Jobs, Mark Zukerberg, to find their purpose in life.

Dunagiri Mata temple is what most people know about. But the real icing on the cake is the cave of ‘Maha Avtar Baba’ which has become world famous due to its mention by Swami Yogananda in his eternal spiritual classic bestselling book, Autobiography of a Yogi. Mahaavtar Baba continues to attract devotees from all corners of the world.

Dunagiri is said to be the place where the story of India began. Bharata the son of King Dushyant and Shakuntala whose name is given to our country, was born here in Dunagiri and played in these mountains. The mountain that Hanuman picked up as a place of medicinal plants to save Lakshman is the same Dunagiri. There are many more stories connected to this historically and spiritually elevating place.

We are once again conducting a spiritual camp cum Chanakya’s leadership training program at Dunagiri Retreat from 24-28th May 2024.

This program will be conducted at ‘Dunagiri Retreat’. It has the best accommodation with very good staying facilities, food made by local chefs and a mountainous surroundings. Classes will be held with nature’s scenic view in the background to inspire each participant.

The program will be conducted by Dr Radhakrishnan Pillai who is a Ph.D in Chanakya’s leadership strategies and author of over 20 bestselling books on Chanakya including ‘Corporate Chanakya’.

Over the 4 days there will be sessions on Chanakya’s leadership concepts like ‘Saptanga’ (7 pillars of leadership), ‘Raja-Rishi’ (Philosopher king), ‘Aanvikshiki’ (Science of strategic thinking) and ‘Vijigishu’ (How to be a world leader). You will also be able to make a strategic plan for your own organization/enterprise based on above principles through individual mentoring.

This program will be co conducted by Ambikaji, who is a world renowned Yoga and meditation teacher. Originally from America, she is based out of Dubai and travels globally teaching Indian spiritual practises.

The program also offers walks in the Himalayan mountains and a special visit to the world famous Mahaavtar Baba’s cave. More popularly called as ‘Baba ji’s cave’. And visit to other temples in the region including the ashram visit of Neem Karoli Baba is included.
